Shady Creek OEF Programs

Exciting News! The foundation has adapted our scholarship and grant programs to the current reality of Virtual Learning. Fit Quest will be offered to students via live remote assemblies this Fall 2020. The former naturalists and now Fit Quest team, will connect with students through their teachers and offer the same great program to your kids on the tenets of good nutrition, physical activity, and mental wellness.

Our grantor Sutter Health is very committed to the Fit Quest tenets and the value of Fit Quest and the Outdoor Education Program at Shady Creek. Through Sutter Health’s generosity we will be providing classroom grants to offset costs of an exciting Virtual Shady Creek Week, being prepared for your classes now. Additionally, the Shady Creek O E Foundation will be redirecting a portion of their traditional school grant program funds to non-Fit Quest schools to offset class fees for the Virtual Week at Shady Creek. Look to shadycreekoe.org (link) or your email for more details to come.

Teachers we will be launching our Fit Quest Kids website by late September with resources for you and fun for the kids and families.

This new program allows the community at large to help fund kids who might not otherwise get to attend the Outdoor Science Camp experience. You have the option to specify a student from a particular county or set up small monthly donations. $255 yearly fully 'funds-a-kid' for a week at Shady Creek Outdoor Education Program.

Sponsored by Sutter Medical Foundation, the 3 day, 2 night family camp is free to eligible families selected through an application process. This school year our reach has expanded to 42 Yuba and Sutter Schools, and several schools in Placer and Sacramento Counties. The Yuba Sutter Colusa United Way has awarded us grant funding specifically to target Colusa Schools, we currently serve 4 Colusa County Schools with this grant funding.

Our yearly fundraiser event isn't your typical cocktail hour gala. Guests and sponsors are treated to local acts lip syncing popular songs in a fun battle, while raising money for student scholarships. Colusa Casino has hosted this event since it began in 2016.
